The climate is mild with summer temperatures in the mid 70’s and winter temperatures in the mid 50’s.The sun shines 300 days a year and the humidity is low for a coastal city. Most of the rainfall occurs between November and April. There is occasional fog due to changing Pacific Ocean currents. Dress is casual and participants should bring warm clothing as mornings and evenings throughout the year are cool. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Santa Cruz County has an inexpensive and reliable public transportation system that participants can use. The training center is a pleasant walk from downtown. Cultural and educational facilities of the San Francisco Bay Area are easily accessible by public transportation.
