Program Design

The program is based on successful leadership development models implemented over the years by the Public Health Institute. Fellows selected for this program will sign a one-year agreement to participate in program activities. Fellows will be required to read materials on leadership and family planning issues during the first months of the program. Each year in June, the selected Fellows will travel to California for an intensive three-week family planning leadership program that will focus on multicultural leadership styles and challenges, reproductive health issues and best practices in implementing family planning programs.

Fellows will be involved in enhancing and developing this web site to support a learning community of program participants. Following the study program in the United States, Fellows will return home to implement family planning activities, participate in continuing education and develop networks of family planning leaders in their respective countries. Technical assistance will be made available for follow-up and evaluation of in-country implementation activities.
