Conducted at Institute for Training & Research in Family Planning (ITRFP), Alexandria, Egypt

This two-week Study Tour is conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Training and Research in Family Planning (ITRFP) in Alexandria, Egypt. Senior trainers will conduct workshop with assistance from Egyptian experts on Islam and Reproductive Health (RH). The purpose of the tour is to equip participants with current, accepted information concerning the teachings of Islam with regard to child spacing, contraception and other topics relevant to RH. Participants develop strategies for informing their communities of the benefits of child spacing and encouraging the use of improved reproductive health services.

Performance Objectives:

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Conduct education and training sessions for health personnel and others working in community settings;
  • Serve as advisors and resources to policy-makers, clinicians and others concerned with improving health of communities;
  • Recommend educational materials for use in clinics, schools and other community-based institutions.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is designed for senior policy-makers and program officers from central and provincial levels in countries with significant Muslim populations. Appropriate candidates include officials from Ministries of Health, Population and Religious Affairs as well as IEC and RH program managers, trainers and educators from university settings.
